Port Moody, the smallest of the Tri-Cities, is located at end of the Burrard Inlet and at the bottom of Eagle Mountain. It is home to about 34,000 people and is 40 minutes from both downtown Vancouver and the U.S. Border. Residents that prefer not to drive can take the Westcoast Express commuter train and arrive downtown in 25 minutes or take the Evergreen Skytrain Line.
Port Moody has over 27 kilometers of waterfront which makes water sports like boating, sailing, and kayaking extremely popular activities. It also offers shopping in three different districts including Newport Village, Suterbrook Village, and Moody Center. Klahanie village houses one of the best local coffee shops Caffe Divano. In the heart of the town is the beautiful state of the art Recreation Complex and Inlet Theatre which seats 200 people.
Port Moody is also the home to Rockypoint Park, a park that has activities and events for the whole family. It also offers music events and festivals all year round. Some of the many festivals at Rockypoint Park include the Golden Spike Days, Festival of Arts, CP Rail Holiday Train, and the Canadian Film Festival.Young families are flocking to Port Moody because of its outdoor lifestyle and family friendly community feel.
Bert Flynn Park is located beside the Heritage Mountain and David roundabout and is 126 hectares in size. It is the perfect park for hikers and mountain bikers. It is also the home to many birds, raccoons, bears, and coyotes. There is also an off leash dog area.
Old Orchard Park is located at 600 Block Bentley Road and is directly across from the inlet at Rocky Point Park. It has a nice picnic shelter area overlooking the sandy beach. It also has a nice children’s playground. The Old Orchard Hall is just a few steps away and is often booked for weddings and special events.
Rockypoint Park is Port Moody’s largest and most popular park. It is 3.8 hectares and includes many amenities including a fantastic kids water park, a recreational pier, an outdoor pool, a skateboard park, a bike trails park, a boat launch, Old Mill Boat House, and lots of trails for hiking and biking!
